In today’s get ready with me video I do my makeup for my 10-year high school reunion. I went with a grey smokey eye using the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette and a pop of bright pink on the lips. I also show you my outfit at the end of the video. I can’t get enough of this flowy, boho mini dress and over-the-knee boot combo!
It seems like the moment I started a new chapter with this blog, I had to put it on hold for something new. Since you’ve last heard from me, my whole life has been flipped upside down. I left my career in finance to work for Vivala, a lifestyle website for bold, real, and savvy Latinas, as a Writer, Editorial Assistant, and Founding Creator. It has been pretty much my whole life since I started in April and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Part of what I’ve been up to is a video series called “Beauty That Works” that has quick tutorials for the woman on the go. New episodes air every Wednesday and we just kicked off the second season last week. I’m super excited about what we have in store! You can add me on Facebook for updates.
Jennifer Lopez is always shutting it down during awards season. Things were no different at the 2015 Oscars. She wore a gorgeous nude Elie Saab gown and paired it with a colorful and fresh makeup look that had us all asking “is it spring yet?” Hopefully things start to warm up sooner rather than later. In the meantime, check out my recreation of J. Lo’s Oscar makeup.
This is what happens when a guy makes you mad and you start watching Beyonce videos on YouTube. I came across Why Don’t You Love Me and decided to channel my energy into recreating one of my favorite looks from the video. I did the tears and everything lol. Check out my video and let me know what you listen to when someone presses your buttons. Continue reading →
I got my Kim K on and tried the look she wore to the Grammys this year. The eyes were completely shimmery, which is a totally different style from what I normally wear. It was a top pick when I asked who had your favorite look of the night on Instagram so I gave it a try. I loved the result and think this would be great for a date night. I can say that with confidence because it’s Kanye approved lol. Check out the tutorial here. Continue reading →
This tutorial was inspired by the makeup Jennifer Lopez wore to the Golden Globes this year. Her signature golden glow was paired with smoldering grey and purple eyes. It was so striking that I just had to try it on myself. Click here to get the look. Continue reading →
I caught a glimpse of Jennifer Lopez’s makeup at the Golden Globes and I was immediately inspired to create a smokey eye with my new Tartelette matte eye shadow palette. That woman can do no wrong! I knew I was doing a sexy themed video later that night so this look was perfect! As I mentioned in the tutorial, I saved a bunch of pictures of J. Lo’s look so I will be recreating it with this palette soon.
New palette and time on my hands means playing in front of the camera. Seems like the jury is still out on the Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette but I was certainly a fan of the colors I used to create this look. If you are looking for a comparison, I would say that the texture of most of the shadows I tried were very similar to the Lorac Pro palettes. It is certainly a great value but you could pay more for a more creamy/buttery product. Which side of the fence are you on?
I challenged myself to do a full face of makeup in a quarter of the time it takes me to do a “quick” look…5 minutes. Just ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you that it is not possible for me to get ready that quickly. It’s a sickness lol. Did I make it? Click here to find out.
Here is the next installment from my holiday makeup tutorial series with thefancyfaced. We created looks featuring the signature red lips that so many of us like to wear during this time of year. I used my latest addition to my red lipstick collection – NARS’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella. It is a gorgeous deep red. I absolutely love the formula! Although it is matte it does not dry my lips as much as some of my other matter lipsticks from other brands. It is very comfortable and lightweight while giving great color payoff with one layer. You don’t feel like you’re wearing anything. I’m having a bit of a NARS moment. Can’t get enough of their stuff lately! And did you see the sneak peek of their upcoming launches that Eva Chen (Lucky’s Editor-in-chief) posted on her Instagram?
My mouth is practically watering #beautyjunkieproblems.
